After debrief we were stuck in quarantine if you have not read my previous blog with being stuck in quarantine on my birthday please do. Once quarantine was over my team was the first to head out to go to another city. Let me tell you I wasn’t expecting it to snow in Turkey.

The morning started off a little calm and very easy. We decided to Uber to go to the port, to ride a ferry to our hosts location and then bus the rest of the way. Unfortunately, however our ferry ride quickly got canceled due to the sea being dangerous and the weather. We went to a nearby bus station to then take a small bus to get onto a bigger bus. While waiting for the bigger bus it soon came upon us that we couldn’t leave due to the roads being closed because of all the snow. I now understand why a handful of people don’t enjoy the snow, because there is a chance the roads may close. So we waited, and we waited. Finally after waiting we ended up having to stay the night because the snow and wind in certain areas got so bad we had to stay the night and leave the next morning.

The morning arrived and we had breakfast. Then we went to try and get to our location again. Our 10am scheduled for the morning was now scheduled for 5:30pm allegedly. So, once again we waited. Due to it still not being safe to drive we ended up staying another night near the bus station before finally being able to leave the next day. The third day of trying to leave is when we were able to get on the bus. Which ended up being a little poetic in my mind. Stuck in quarantine for 5 days, to be free only to be stuck in thunder snow and finally leaving on the third day in the morning. We left the bus station around 10am on Wednesday and it took us 6 hours to get to our location with the many stops along the way. We ended up getting on a ferry as well with the bus. Which was awesome because I really wanted to get on a ferry. It was on my major bucket lists of transportation. I think I’ve now been on all major modes of transportation…. Car, truck, van, train, motorcycle, plane, ferry and/or boat.

Overall on our initial first day of trying to travel to our location we got 8 miles away from where we were staying at during debrief in the span of 9 hours. It was quite the adventure, I’m thankful for a story. I’m even more thankful that we finally made it to our hosts location.
