Goodbyes Are Hard

Recently before heading back to Romania I ended up getting a glimpse of what the end of the program will be like with all the goodbyes. How did this happen? Well, two people fell for each other and the Lord called them to head back to the States. Before they left I ended up crying for a few days after hearing the news. Doing life with people for so long. Traveling together, doing Kingdom work together. It impacts you drastically. That was very noticeable when they told the entire squad one of the nights before leaving. Many ended up crying and bawling their eyes out. It was a tender moment, hearing the news being excited for them yet not wanting them to leave and having worship music play. To worship together and say all of our goodbyes in the midst of it all. So many emotions took place.

I love that the entire squad does the things that they said or did before they went back to the states. It’s evident just how much they made an impact on each of our lives. So much so that even though it’s been awhile since they went back to the states I’m still crying while typing this out for you all to read. To my believers in Christ, cherish the good godly community you are in. If you’re not in any good godly community, seek after it. It’s beautiful when it’s done right. To my unbelievers I pray you find Christ and get to experience this community and what the body of Christ should actually look like.

  1. Definitely feel you on this one. I still miss my squad and it’s been over 10 years since we came home. Crazy. Goodbyes are hard.

  2. Michael, you are so right. A godly community is such a blessing and a beautiful thing. Cherish it when you have it. If you don’t have it, seek after it. Thanks for sharing. Goodbyes are the hardest part of WR!
